The files are supplied as a digital download in a ZIP archive containing the PDF documents needed to complete your quilt.

🖨 PRINTING INSTRUCTIONS

The standard pattern files are designed for US Letter paper (8.5×11").

Print at 100% (actual size) to obtain the intended finished dimensions.

If printing on A4 instead of US Letter, the final output will be reduced to approximately 97.7% of the intended dimensions. No manual scaling to 97.7% is required.

Larger sizes require additional printed pages, more paper assembly, and sufficient workspace to organize the sections before sewing.

📐 RESIZING

20×20" size:

Further reduction is not recommended. Some pieces are already compact, particularly around the eyes, narrow tentacles, and small geometric details. Reducing this version may make accurate fabric placement and sewing more difficult.

30×30", 40×40", and 60×60" sizes:

These versions can be reduced proportionally to create a custom quilt size.

Use the following formula:

(Desired size ÷ Pattern size) × 100 = Print percentage

For example, to reduce a 60×60" pattern to 50×50":

(50 ÷ 60) × 100 = 83.3%

Print at approximately 83.3%.

All pieces and seam allowances decrease proportionally. The finished dimensions are determined by the sewing lines, so the design retains its original proportions.

Significant reductions may make the smallest geometric pieces harder to sew. Choose the available size closest to your intended dimensions whenever possible.

Enlargement beyond 100% is not recommended.

🎯 SKILL LEVEL

Intermediate – Previous Foundation Paper Piecing experience recommended.

This pattern includes 548 pieces distributed across 70 sections. The octopus features several detailed areas, particularly around the eyes, tentacle curves, and narrow geometric shapes.

The individual sections allow you to work progressively, but careful fabric placement and an organized assembly process are important.

The experience varies depending on your selected size:

• 20×20": Smaller pieces require precision, good lighting, and careful fabric positioning. This size requires less workspace and fewer printed pages, but the detailed areas are more demanding to sew.

• 30×30": Offers more comfortable piece dimensions while remaining practical for a medium-sized wall hanging. A good balance between detailed sewing and manageable assembly.

• 40×40": Provides larger pieces and improved visibility of the intricate tentacle details. More workspace and preparation time are needed to organize the printed pages and individual sections.

• 60×60": Features the most generous piece dimensions, making the smaller geometric details more comfortable to handle. However, this version requires considerably more paper preparation, taping, and space to assemble the completed quilt.
