Six shades of blue create depth and movement, from deep navy to pale aqua highlights. The design contains 624 pieces arranged into 78 sections, with the same artwork available in three finished sizes.

Print at 100% / Actual Size for the stated finished dimensions. Disable “Fit to page” and other automatic scaling options, and check the test square before printing the complete pattern.
US Letter files include a 1 × 1-inch test square. A2 files also include a 5 × 5 cm test square.
For the 50-inch and 70-inch versions, A2 printing uses fewer sheets and reduces the amount of paper joining required.
When printing the US Letter layout on A4 paper, follow the supplied instructions. The resulting dimensions are approximately 97.7% of the stated size; this is the resulting scale, not a percentage to enter manually.

🧵 FABRIC REQUIREMENTS
The design uses six shades of blue, from deep navy through lighter blue and aqua tones.
The OPEN FIRST file for your selected size includes a fabric chart based on 43-inch-wide fabric, with technical minimum requirements and recommended purchase quantities allowing for cutting.
Use the supplied color references to maintain contrast between the octopus, its highlights and the surrounding background.

📏 RESIZING
The supplied patterns are designed to be printed at 100% for their stated finished sizes.
For a smaller version, calculate your printing percentage using:
(Desired size ÷ Pattern size) × 100 = Print percentage
For example, reducing the 50-inch pattern to 45 inches requires printing at 90%.
Reducing the 30-inch version is possible, but is not recommended for sewing comfort: its smallest pieces become more difficult to handle, and the printed seam allowance also becomes proportionally narrower.
Do not enlarge the supplied patterns beyond 100%.

🪡 SKILL LEVEL
This project requires careful handling of small and narrow pieces, particularly around the eyes and along the curling tentacles.
Accurate color placement, organized section preparation and precise joining are important throughout the 78-section assembly. The 30-inch version has the smallest pieces; the 50-inch and 70-inch versions provide more room to handle the same detailed design.
The pattern uses no Y-seams. A Paper Piecing Tutorial is included, but familiarity with Foundation Paper Piecing will help you approach the detailed areas confidently.
