It had been a long time since I wanted to work on a black and white quilt design.
For this design, I wanted to explore the concept of contrast. When we think of unicorns, we often envision pink, pristine white, and glitter. But that didn't excite me. I preferred it dark, as if straight out of another hidden part of a dream.
For this pattern, I offer two types of fabrics: solids like most patterns on the site, but also a variant with very delicate floral textures to create an optical illusion. My goal is to create visual irregularities to make the result more vibrant and porous.
This is actually the option I chose to pursue. I provide all fabric references on one of the pattern pages, and I'll add photos once I've progressed with this project.
Please note, this project is aimed at meticulous and experienced quilters due to its high number of very closely spaced details. Prefer reducing your seam allowances to 1/8" to minimize thickness.
A comprehensive tutorial included with the pattern guides you through every step, ensuring a seamless quilting experience.
This paper piecing pattern includes closeups, cutting and mounting steps, a tutorial, and two versions of the pattern: one with color references, one blank to let you see the sewing lines better.
