🖨️ PRINTING & SCALE
Print all FPP files at 100% / Actual Size. Do not use Fit to Page, Scale to Fit or any automatic resizing.
The US Letter files include a 1" × 1" Print Scale Check.
The 20 × 29" pattern uses 20 FPP pages in US Letter, while the 30 × 40" version uses 34.
For the 50 × 65" quilt, you can choose between 95 US Letter pages for home printing or 23 A2 pages. The A2 version includes both 1" × 1" and 5 × 5 cm scale checks and is the more practical option for this large size, with substantially fewer pages and less taping.
If a US Letter file is printed on A4 paper instead, the final output will be approximately 97.7% of the intended dimensions.
.
🧵 FABRIC REQUIREMENTS
Fabric requirements are based on 43" wide quilting fabric and include both the technical minimum needed for each color and a practical recommended purchase amount in yardage, allowing a small cutting margin.
The pattern uses 10 fabric colors.
.
📐 RESIZING
The 20 × 29" version is already the smallest size available. Further reduction is not recommended because the smallest star and branch pieces will become increasingly difficult to sew accurately.
The larger patterns may be reduced when needed using:
(Desired size ÷ Pattern size) × 100 = Print percentage
Remember that both the pattern pieces and seam allowances shrink proportionally. Significant reduction therefore increases the precision required.
Enlarging the files above 100% is not recommended.
.
🎯 SKILL LEVEL
This Christmas Tree pattern has a moderate total of 128 pieces, but the sewing experience changes with scale.
The 20 × 29" version requires the most precision because details around the star, branch tips and narrow sections are relatively small, although page preparation remains limited.
The 30 × 40" version offers a good balance between comfortable piece size and manageable overall project size.
The 50 × 65" version provides larger, easier-to-read pieces, but requires more workspace and pattern preparation. Using the included A2 file reduces that preparation considerably.
The construction does not use Y-seams. Basic FPP experience is useful, particularly for the smallest size, but the relatively moderate piece count keeps the project accessible compared with denser portrait-style patterns.
.
🎁 PERFECT FOR
A practical choice for modern Christmas quilts, winter wall hangings, holiday sewing projects, seasonal quilt collections and handmade Christmas gifts built around clean geometric patchwork.
